4-H Projects Headed to the State Fair

BATAVIA, NY - Cornell Cooperative Extension has announced the exhibits selected to represent the Genesee County 4-H program at the New York State Fair. This year the state fair, located in Syracuse NY, runs August 21st to September 1st.

Countdown to Cruise at the College

The second annual Cruise at the College is just two weeks away and organizers are gearing up for an exciting event. Scheduled for Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Genesee Community College, the cruise night will feature an evening of free family fun including "cruising" cars, motorcycles, and trucks from across the region. The Cruise, which will feature Skull Crusher Trikes this year in addition to food and entertainment, begins at 4:00 pm and runs to 8:00 pm.

LYNDONVILLE �" The Independence Day bash of the year in Orleans County will once again return with an outdoor concert featuring the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.

Hosted for the 34th year by the Lyndonville Lions Club, the day will boast a full-length parade, food, live entertainment, an arts and crafts show and a fireworks display at dusk.

(Alabama, NY) -- To celebrate National Fishing and Boating Week, Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) hosted its 17th Annual Youth Fishing Derby, on Saturday, June 7. Seventy-three young anglers from 2 years old to 17 participated. Each participant received a grab bag with fishing related items and a t-shirt commemorating the 50th anniversary of Iroquois NWR. In addition to fishing for fun and prizes there was an activities tent where kids could learn about fish anatomy and adaptations that help fish survive. A casting contest, an awards ceremony, and door prizes rounded out a fun day of fishing.
