United States Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will be the guest of honor at an August 17 event at Sweet Briar in Geneseo. "A Summer Evening with Senator Kirsten Gillibrand" is a fundraiser for the Democratic Committees of Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming Counties and will feature light refreshments and a cash bar from 7 to 9 pm.

Phil Jones, the Livingston County Democratic Chair, said, "We are honored and excited that Senator Gillibrand is coming to the GLOW region and will be attending our event. She is a major figure in New York politics, and people are eager to meet her." He noted that Gillibrand has distinguished herself as working hard on the issues of upstate and rural New York. As a member of Congress and now a Senator, she sought out a spot on each House's Agriculture Committee. Gillibrand is the first Senator in over a generation to make agriculture a primary focus, and she is especially concerned about the current crisis in dairy farming.

Jones went on to say. "We hope that folks from all over the GLOW region will come out to see Senator Gillibrand. We have a beautiful venue, and we've worked very hard to keep the ticket prices low." Sweet Briar is renowned for its views of the Genesee Valley and its lovely rooms, porches, and terraces; it is located at 5126 Geneseo-Mt. Morris Road (Route 63) in Geneseo. The minimum donation to attend is $25, although more generous contributions will be enthusiastically accepted.
