SST Racing Series: Several seasons past since a real effort has been made to unite the Super Stocks under the SST banner. Equalization and consistency in rules has been a slow, but necessary approach to bring back and maintaining proper growth
within our short track industry. Leading in to the 2008 Racing season, the SST Directors and Associates are taking another strong look at uniting several motor sport facilities of the Northeast region.
The Super Stock, as we know it, is a full frame, full bodied racing machine that parallels the technology of the Winston Cup cars of the early 80's -- well, without the huge sponsors and high dollar engine program. The chassis is fully adjustable with all the latest safety amenities and a V-8 power plant, putting out just under 400 hp. The drivers and crew are extremely competitive and experienced in creating a great show at local short tracks all across our region.
This is where the SST Series comes in. Not just to save the day like some flying mouse in a cartoon but with a realistic approach utilizing the ABC's of reorganization. Based on the same simple concept that united the Sportsman Modifieds many years ago, we can create another division within the Northeast to experience growth and excitement for fans and drivers alike.
But this SST concept will not work for the Super Stocks with just words alone -- it will take the action, support, and patients of all those involved. This division can not afford teams to sit back with a "wait and see" attitude.
Keep in mind, the strength of the SST Modified division comes from the unity of all the teams. If we want this new SST super stock to grow as the Modifieds did -- join us for an open forum in Sunday January 13th one p.m at the Valley View Lanes, East hill Rt. 20A Warsaw NY Everyone is invited. Bring your ideas and we will discuss ours. Representatives from across the region are welcome, lunch will be available complements of WCIS/SST.
SST modified teams please attended for continued discussion of tour schedule and home track participation. Please contact the SST office for additional information 585-237-2580 (SST Tech. 585-329-9923.)
