Hearts for Hope, Genesee Cancer Assistance Event
Noah's Ark Animal Workshop will be taken pre-orders through June 2 for our HOPE BEAR. The cost will be $25 with $5.00 from each Hope Bear being donated to the Genesee Cancer Assistance fundraising event.
This even will be held at the Batavia Downs, Paddock Room on June 6 from 5 pm to 9 pm.
Folks who pre-order by June 2, may pick up their order at the event that night or choose to attend the workshop that night and stuff their bear.
We will also be selling wishing stars for $3.00 at the event. All proceeds from the wishing stars will go to Genesee Cancer Assistance!
We will continue to take orders through June 30 for the Hope Bears. Click on the section that says join us at the First Annual Kids Fest. You will find a flyer and order form link. Prepayment and orders must be received by June 2 for pick up on June 6.
All prepayment and orders received after that date will have another arrangements for distribution.

What does your business do?
First youTMll choose an “unstuffed” cuddly friend (the highest quality and a large variety of unstuffed animals to choose from) and hand stuff it yourself. Next, you will ‘wish uponTM and insert a rainbow star, then zip it closed. YouTMll then name your new animal, create a customized birth certificate. Some groups choose to personalize your new friend by dressing it in an adorable and authentic outfit. You can even personalize your new stuffed animal with animal sound chips. And finally, you will color & decorate your new cuddly friendTMs “Take Home Bag”.
When and why did you start the biz?
I became an independent crew member in March of 2006
How Many People are in your Company?
As an independent crew member, I own my own business and I am part of an organization with over 2000 members
Where's your office?
My home office is in a small white and black trailer, and my inventory is handle by the NAAW company, so all my stuff is on my computer except for three boxes of samples (the currently promotional cuddly friends), and my manual a bright red three ring binder.
What's the toughest part of running your biz?
The toughest part is getting folks to realize how affordable we are especially now with the high gas prices. We are mainly a children's party activity that comes to you.
What's the most fun part?
The fun we have with the children and adults as we build memories and treasured wishes for generations to come.
Anything you would have done differently?
I would have started a long time ago working for myself.
What's next on the horizon for your biz?
I am looking to make this a full-time job. Where everyday when I go to work is kids play!
What advice do you have for others?
Enjoy what you are doing in your job so that everyday you want to be there. Although we may have to take a job to make the payment on our household "stuff". Find something that truly makes you happy, and enjoy it. Noah's Ark Animal Workshop is that outlet for me!
How do you use Idea Cafe to help your biz?
I love Idea Cafe's samples of business forms and the informative articles. The chance to share my business with others and even the chance to make some money.

Erie Community College, Associate Degree Elementary Education
Prior jobs or business?
Managed several movie theaters, worked in a performing arts center, working in several daycares, and spent endless hours in Scouting programs for over 20 years.

Chicken Wings and Pizza (I am from Buffalo, NY)
What are your pets' names?
Susie, A Boston Terrier
Do any of these pets help with your biz?
Susie helps out with one of my pet businesses but not with Noah's Ark
Is there any one person or event in your life that led you to go into business for yourself?
When I discovered I had to work for someone else to make money to pay the bills, and really didn't enjoy doing what I had to do without being able to play.
Anyone you publicly want to thank?
My husband Wayne who supports my party efforts, Susie who keeps me grounded, and Mojo for showing me how to have fun!
