Gas Price Gouging A Threat to Emergency Services

I am concerned that the continued price gouging at the pump that the oil companies are now engaged in will eventually begin to harm the ability of our emergency services to do their jobs,be it law enforcement, ambulance service, firefighting, what have you, since most vehicles used in these services are diesel powered these days, with police cruisers being the exception. The current level of prices do not reflect the supply and demand, but,in my opinion, constituted price gouging. The threat to emergency services, and to a lesser extent, public transit, are why I believe that price controls should have been imposed long before this. The harm to the economy is being felt as the price gougers rake in obscene profits the way pirates enjoy the booty from ships they pirate on the high seas. The price controls should be backed up by a threat of government seizure of the entire oil industry under RICO.Moreover, the message they seem to be sending to people in low wage jobs is that WORK DOES NOT PAY, GO BACK ON WELFARE. If our government won't do anything, perhaps it is time to take matters into our own hands. God help the community that ends up losing its fire protection because the dept. cannot afford to keep its fire trucks fully fueled for the next run. Same for ambulance, thus my perception of the threat to emergency services that price gouging at the pump poses, especially in nearby Rochester and Buffalo, whose fire departments are made up of paid professionals.Luckily we are all volunteer depts. in these parts, but the threat is still there. End the price gouging and the threat to emergency services goes away.
