Come enjoy fabulous food and great entertainment at the 9th Annual Taste of Livingston County. The much-anticipated event will be held on Tuesday, April 3, from 5:30 p.m.to 7:30 p.m. at the Genesee River Restaurant, 134 North Main St. in Mt. Morris. Sponsored by the Livingston County Department of Health, the Genesee Valley Health Partnership, and area restaurants, this delicious event celebrating Public Health Week 2007 features mouth-watering cuisine that is as good for your heart as it is for your palate.

Restaurants from around the County donate their time, talent, and food to create tasty, succulent dishes for guests to sample - from soups to appetizers to main dishes and desserts. Restaurants that will be cooking up culinary delights at this year's Taste of Livingston County event include: Big Sky Restaurant & Saloon, Bill's Restaurant, Brian's USA Diner, Cozy Kitchen, Genesee River Restaurant, Joseph's/Partyman Catering, Leisure's Restaurant, Livonia Inn, Vasile's Catering, Wegmans, Yard of Ale Canal House Inn, & more. Residents of the County are encouraged to patronize the participating restaurants to show thanks for their support of the Livingston County community.

The goal of Taste of Livingston County is to encourage residents to choose heart-healthy meals when dining out. Some individuals with dietary restrictions are hesitant to eat out, fearing they will not be able to find anything suitable on the menu. Others are convinced that foods deemed "healthy" will not be very satisfying. This event is designed to provide all guests with a positive experience with healthy food.

Each year, the proceeds from ticket sales are donated to one or more local non-profit organizations. This year, proceeds will be donated to the Geneseo Parish Outreach Center. The Center provides free health care, health education, disease prevention and advocacy to uninsured and under-served children, women and men in Livingston County and beyond.

One of the most anticipated highlights of the spring events calendar, Taste of Livingston County will feature the live sounds of the Geneseo String Band. Food baskets arranged by Pat's Petals and Dogwood Floral Company will be displayed on the tables and then given away in random drawings. Food baskets items have been donated by Once Again Nut Butter; The Abbey of the Genesee Monks Bread; and Pasta from Barilla. Printing of event tickets was generously donated by Hilltop Industries in Mt. Morris. David's Boston's Best Coffee Roasters will donate coffee and tea for the event. C & R Food Service, Inc. is donating paper supplies, and US Foodservice will also be donating materials for the Taste of Livingston County.
